Charmaine Simpson, founder and CEO of Black History Studies, will introduce two short films and lead a discussion following this screening with the filmmakers.

Mas Resistance is a visuals arts project incorporating spoken word, video, music and performance to capture archive and promote the dying art of Mas - storytelling through costume - in Notting Hill Carnival. It includes contemporary works such as Symone Williams' Midnight Jumbie and the final masterpiece of Vernon "Fellows" Williams, founding member of Notting Hill Carnival. The film is a portrait of the Williams family as they strive to keep traditional mas culture and characters alive.
