MARCH AT THE LEXI CINEMA

MARCH AT THE LEXI CINEMA

Tuesday 3 Mar 2026

Johnathan Kirk

The BAFTAs are over but if you're already wondering what could win big next year, look no further than PROJECT HAIL MARY. The big screen adaptation of Andy Weir's beloved sci-fi novel is a stellar piece of filmmaking and features one of Ryan Gosling's best performances yet. Opening at The Lexi from Friday 27th March, we gave our members priority booking until 11am on Wednesday 4th March to secure the best seats. And if you're still behind on this year's Best Picture contenders, don't forget our AWARDS SEASON weekend where we're screening all ten of the nominees.

Though not nominated for Best Picture, we have some major nominees opening here on Friday. IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU is an intense and honest portrayal of motherhood led by an astonishing Rose Byrne, nominated for Best Actress for her performance. There's also the tense Spanish drama SIRAT, deservedly nominated for Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound. We're also happy to have a couple of BAFTA winners back on our screens, next week we have the return of the Nigerian-British co-production MY FATHER'S SHADOW which won Outstanding Debut. This weekend (and hopefully beyond) we've also got the Tourettes drama I SWEAR back, following a surprise upset win for its lead Robert Aramayo who took home the Best Actor award last Sunday.

That's this years British slate, but what could compete next year? Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan will be hoping PEAKY BLINDERS: THE IMMORTAL MAN can transition from the small to the big screen in this feature length outing of the iconic BBC drama, playing here for one week only from Friday 13th March. I'd wager Ciarán Hinds and Leslie Manville could be in the conversation again for their terrific work in MIDWINTER BREAK opening here from Friday 20th March. The film follows a retired couple who travel from their home in Glasgow to Amsterdam for an impromptu holiday, until deeply concealed wounds threaten to come to light and force them to confront their future. Speaking of Glasgow, we're very proud to present EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET from Friday 13th March. This documentary tells the story of the hundreds of residents in Pollokshields who rushed to the streets to stop the dawn deportation of their neighbours by the Home Office. The film also features dramatic recreations from Emma Thompson and Kate Dickie, using the real words of those involved.

International Women's Day is on Sunday 8th March and we're marking it with three films directed by female filmmakers. Alongside the aforementioned IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU, we're also pleased to finally screen Kristen Stewart's acclaimed debut THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER starring Imogen Poots, playing for one night only. We're concluding our SPOTLIGHT: ANNEMARIE JACIR season with Palestinian drama WAJIB on 8th and 11th March. Sunday's screening will feature a live introduction from actress, writer and curator of The Arab Film Club, Sarah Agha. Later on in the month we're welcoming the acclaimed Shakers musical THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE. Starring Amanda Seyfried and from the creative team behind last year's THE BRUTALIST, this gorgeous historical ode to faith and community must be seen to be believed.

Though late in its run, we were determined to give David Jonsson and Tom Blyth's powerful performances in British prison drama WASTEMAN some extra attention. It opens here on Friday 27th March alongside the Icelandic comedy drama THE LOVE THAT REMAINS from the director of GODLAND. We're so excited to welcome Clarke Peters back to our cinema for a Q&A on Wednesday for BEYOND THE SILK ROAD. Him and his The Wire co-star Dominic West reunite for this feature-length documentary exploring the heart of Kyrgyzstan through encounters with traders, herders and highland farmers.

That's not the only Q&A in March, don't miss our St Patrick's Day screening of THE SPIN on Tuesday 17th March followed by a live Q&A with director, Michael Head. This sweet and uplifting Irish road movie packs in the laughs following two music lovers who run a struggling record shop in Omagh, Northern Ireland. Our first Exhibition on Screen of 2026 will be TURNER & CONSTABLE on Sunday 22nd March, a rare opportunity to see the Tate Britain's amazing exhibition on the big screen. Last but not least we have RISING TIDE, a special double bill relaxed screening of Ben Sharrock's LIMBO (2020) alongside the short film ILL FARES THE LAND (2023) and post-film discussion. Tickets for this event are free and it is presented alongside Pixida Films and HIAS+JCORE on Wednesday 18th March.

Coming on a Tuesday? Remember you can bring a friend for free! And not forgetting £6 tickets all day for members on Mondays.
