MARCH AT THE LEXI CINEMA

MARCH AT THE LEXI CINEMA

Wednesday 26 Feb 2025

Johnathan Kirk

The Oscars are just a few days away and the BAFTAs have left behind some very tasty dilemmas... But whether you're still catching up with this year's challengers or looking for next year's nominees, The Lexi has something for everyone.

Our big release for March is MICKEY 17, Bong Joon-ho's follow-up to his Best Picture winner Parasite. The beloved filmmaker has lost none of his political bite in this greatly anticipated sci-fi adventure starring Robert Pattinson, Toni Colette and Mark Ruffalo. We're also on sale with Brazilian Best Picture nominee I'M STILL HERE, Iranian Cannes prize-winner THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG, photographer documentary I AM MARTIN PARR and ON FALLING, produced by Ken Loach's Sixteen Films.

We've just added some extra showings of the two Best Picture frontrunners CONCLAVE & ANORA as the last batch sold out. And if that wasn't enough we're introducing a special strand of films that should have been Best Picture nominees, beloved by Lexi audiences and our programming team! NO OTHER LAND (Competing for Best Documentary) joins us next week, followed by ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT (Snubbed at the Oscars but one of our biggest hits) and SING SING (Competing for Best Actor, Screenplay and Song).

In fact if you wanted an extra excuse to revisit ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT you can experience it as part of our International Women's Day celebrations on March 8th! We're doing an all day Screen Two takeover of films directed by (and about) women, starting with Payal Kapadia's Sight and Sound Best Film of 2024 winner, followed by Gia Coppola's Pamela Anderson led THE LAST SHOWGIRL, and culminating with the documentary about the British cultural icon: TWIGGY.

And speaking of celebratory days, if you're looking for something to see on Mother's Day then do get booking for our preview of uplifting Irish comedy-drama FOUR MOTHERS. We're also marking International Whisk(e)y Day with a whisky tasting session alongside a screening of docu-film SIX INCHES OF SOIL + Q&A on Thursday 27th March.

Event Cinema aficionados have much to celebrate in March as we bring various stage and arts programming to the big screen. We've added extra showings of the National Theatre's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, as well as Steve Coogan's four performances in DR. STRANGELOVE. We're also playing the acclaimed David Tennant & Cush Jumbo production of MACBETH. Plus two Exhibition on Screen shows: VAN GOGH - POETS AND LOVERS and DAWN OF IMPRESSIONISM - PARIS 1874.

Coming on a Tuesday? Remember you can bring a friend for free! And not forgetting £6 tickets all day for members on Mondays.
