SUMMER HOLIDAYS AT THE LEXI

SUMMER HOLIDAYS AT THE LEXI

Thursday 13 Jul 2023

Gen Sandle

Bring on the summer holidays! Starting on 26 July and running until 24 August, our Family Fun programme is packed full of the latest titles with brand new films suitable for a range of ages, all for just  £8. Whether you’re into multiverse hopping superheroes or magical sea creatures, there’s something to delight and entertain the whole family.

With our Lexi kids’ combo priced at £4 for a small popcorn and juice, you can turn a trip to the cinema into a real occasion. We have air conditioning in both our screens - so whether you need a rainy day activity or an escape from the heat, a trip to The Lexi is the perfect summer activity for families this summer!

We want to make sure all families can enjoy a film at The Lexi this summer, so we will be holding a number of captioned screenings for D/deaf audiences, and our special Relaxed shows, which are run with the lights up a little higher, the sounds a little lower and with a reduced number of audience members in the screen, for families with neurodivergent children.  Head to our accessibility page for more information!

So without further ado… Here’s what’s screening at The Lexi over the summer holidays:

RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN (PG) plays from Wednesday 26 July

Joining the rank of aquatic teenage entities is Ruby Gillman, a shy, awkward highschooler who just wants to fit in with her human classmates (thought your teen years were hard? Try being an anthropomorphic Kraken!). Yet by chance, Ruby soon discovers that she is descended from a legendary royal Kraken dynasty, and that her destiny is far greater than she could have ever imagined. An uplifting and whimsical tale of accepting and celebrating your differences!

ELEMENTAL (PG) plays from Friday 28 Jul

Set in a city inhabited by magical beings made of either earth, air, fire or water, Elemental sees a chance meeting between fire element Ember and water element Wade lead to an elemental discovery: that they have far more in common than their fiery and watery exteriors might suggest!  Packed with Pixar wit and ingenuity, this is a beautifully animated tale about the power of friendship and acceptance.

SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (PG) plays from Friday 11 August

A visual stunner of a film (‘There’s not a frame of this rich, kaleidoscopically detailed animation that isn’t dazzling’ - The Guardian), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sees Miles Morales (a Spider-Man in one of many alternate universes) team up with friend Gwen Stacy, as the pair are catapulted across the Multiverse to tackle a major new threat. But when the heroes can’t agree, Miles has to redefine what it means to be a hero in order to protect what he loves most.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM (12A) plays from Friday 18 August

The pizza-loving, Renaissance-artist-named turtle crew is back! After years of living in the shadows, the Turtle brothers set out for the human world. On a quest to be accepted by the residents of NYC, they perform increasingly heroic feats. But their bravery is tested when they must hunt down the leader of a mysterious crime syndicate.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 plays Friday 11 August & Sunday 13 August

The Guardians don their space suits once again, in the final instalment of this popular Marvel series. The band of misfits (consisting of assorted characters including a surprisingly adorable anthropomorphic tree) face perhaps their greatest challenge: they must race against time to save one of their own, Rocket the raccoon. Facing numerous enemies, and eventually finding themselves on a strange new version of Earth, it’s another wild ride through space and time. As action-packed and hilarious as ever! All tickets are just £5.50 for these screenings!

An exciting slate of films that we’re sure will put a smile on your kids’ faces - and on yours, too!
