On a remote mountaintop, a group of teen commandos perform military exercises while watching over a captive American (Julianne Nicholson) for a rebel force referred to only as ‘The Organisation’. Life passes with a sense of ritual and unreality as the crew drinks, screws and lets off steam with bursts from their automatic weapons.  There is an enemy out there - where ever 'there' precisely is - but it proves the greatest enemy is the breakdown of the group, after a series of unexpected events leaves them cut off deep in the festering jungle.

Set against a stunningly beautiful but dangerous landscape, Alejandro Landes’ awe-inspiring film is an epic vision that will have you both mesmerised and utterly gripped.  Somewhere between Lord of the Flies and Apocalypse Now, Monos bypasses conventional story telling to go straight for the gut, aided and abetted by a visceral score from Mica Levi (Under the Skin).  It's a startling, bold piece of film making, and it recently won - among other prizes - 'Best Film' at the London Film Festival.
