Met Opera: Adriana Lecouvreur

Met Encore: recorded from the live performance the evening before, including all the extras

Showing Times

This is a new production of Francesco Cliea's opera, directed by Sir David McVicar and conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.  It stars Anna Netrebko, Piotr Beczala and Anita Rachvelishvili.

In a Met first Anna Netrebko sings the role of Adriana Lecouvreur, the eighteenth-century actress whose real-life intrigues inspired this tragic opera. Adriana is courted by many but loves only Maurizio (Piotr Beczała), who adores her in return. When Maurizio tries to extricate himself from his previous lover, the Princess of Bouillon (Anita Rachvelishvili), the princess discovers that Adriana is her rival and takes desperate measures of her own.  The staging of this promises to be of particular interest as the action is partly set in a working replica of a Baroque theatre.
