Gingererella (RockaFela) is an exciting collaboration between neuroscientist Professor Chris Frith and film maker Alex Reuben.  This experimental short feature explores the phenomonen of synchronicity through the fairy tale Cinderella, asking dancer Eleanor Sikorski to respond freely to the different versions which originated from different places at around the same time. The director says:  "It is an improvised movie about improvisation, inspired by the story of a dancer who has lost the will to dance."

We are pleased to be welcoming Alex back to the Lexi!  We showed his documentary Routes - Dancing to New Orleans, which was a road trip through the US deep south, catching up with traditional dance forms en route.  It was selected for the ‘Top 20 Movies of the Decade’ by film critic Geoff Andrew.  Alex will be with us for a Q&A after Gingerella (RockaFela), and he'll be joined by actor Alix Wilton Regan to talk about her voice-over work on the film.

The film is supported by a Wellcome Trust Art award and Arts Council England.
