Free Solo + Q & A

"It's scary and exhilarating stuff!"

Showing Times

Award-winning filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and photographer/mountaineer Jimmy Chin (Meru) filmed this breath-stealing portrait of climber Alex Honnold in his pursuit of the unprecedented: climbing the face of the 3,200-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without a rope. The stakes are all or nothing, success or death.  But while Honnold is training he falls in love, which distracts from his focus and raises the stakes. Capturing Honnold’s death-defying climbing with masterful, vertigo-inducing camerawork – alongside deeply human and intimate moments – this is a stunning and unforgettable documentary.

To celebrate International Mountain Day on 11 December, join us for a live event of documentary Free Solo followed by a live-by-satellite Q&A with Alex Honnold and filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin.
