The Dead Don't Die

“Jarmusch loads his genre-tweaking experiment with so many of his A-list friends that it's a gas just hanging out in their company.” Entertainment Weekly

Jim Jarmusch (Paterson, Down by Law, to name just a few) enlists a posse of talent to pick up where George Romero’s classic Dawn of the Dead left off.  It's also a return to the undead for Jarmusch, after his charismatic vampire odyssey, Only Lovers Left Alive

On a day like no other the police force in sleepy Centerville (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny) find that instead of dealing with the town drunk they are assailed by the walking dead, folk they used to know who are returning to their interrupted lives but with a rampant appetite for flesh.  Things are sure to end badly, as Driver’s character warns repeatedly.  As the zombie army grows, all but the samurai sword-wielding coronor (Tilda Swinton) begin to fear, well, that things will surely end badly!  With a cast that includes Selena Gomez, Iggy Pop and Steve Buscemi, it’s “an assemblage of ideas, moods and prestigious actors circling around each other in a shaggy dog tale. But it’s always viewable in its elegant deliberation and controlled tempo of weird normality." (Guardian)
