Call Me By Your Name

"In attaching sinuous style and casual sexiness to a universal ache, [Luca] Guadagnino has come away with real wisdom. Sweet and salty, his movie burns like a suntan." ★★★★★ Time Out

A sensual and transcendent tale of love and intimacy, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. It's1983 in northern Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17- year-old American-Italian boy, spends his days in his family's villa playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio's sophistication suggests great maturity, but there is much still innocent and unformed about him.  When Oliver (Armie Hammer), a doctoral intern, comes to work with Elio's father, what the two discover is the one thing both already fear they may never truly find: total intimacy.  It's a discovery that will change both their lives.

Director Luca Guadino continues to explore a heady sensual world of emotion. After all, he does it so well!  His I Am Love was an early Lexi favourite, and last year's A Bigger Splash also revolved around the consequences of intimacy found and lost.  Call Me By Your Name has been rapturously received in early Festival showings, and we expect its voluptuousness to powerfully offset the pall of these early November evenings!
