This documentary tells how Haiti won its independence, carrying out the first-ever successful slave rebellion - the most successful slave rebellion in history. It provides a compelling, fresh look into the strategies, motivation and mindset of 17th and 18th century Africans caught in the snares of slavery in the Caribbean, on the island of Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic), in particular. It's from filmmaker Tariq Nasheed. who is the producer of the popular African history documentary series Hidden Colors.
