Based on a Michael Morpurgo (War Horse) novel, Private Peaceful chronicles the relationship between brothers Tommo and Charlie Peaceful from their rural childhood to the horrors of the First World War trenches. Set in the fields of Devon and the WW1 battlefields of Flanders, the two brothers fall for the same girl while contending with the pressures of their feudal family life, the war, and the price of courage and cowardice. The sterling cast also includes Richard Griffiths as the mean-spirited patrician who provides a precarious living for the Peacefuls, and Frances de la Tour as his conniving mistress.
