Brought back as a companion piece to About Elly (showing all this week) - and also as part of our unofficial Mid-Eastern film week which includes a program of new Arabic films, Veiled Visuality, on Mon 24th September – we happily provide another chance to see this emotionally resonant film about people, relationships, family and fundamentalism. All that, and it’s also a moving drama which has transcended its cultural origins to be a hit around the world!
A Separation is a compelling and profound film that focuses on a contemporary Iranian middle-class couple who separate, and the intrigues which follow. As riveting as a thriller, the film received the Golden Bear for Best Film and the Silver Bears for Best Actress and Best Actor at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
