Charming 1960s-set French confection, a comedy of manners with an all-star cast and a wicked sense of humour. When wealthy bourgeois stockbroker Monsieur Joubert (Potiche) befriends the Spanish maids who live at the top of his apartment building, he becomes enchanted by their simple, happy lifestyle. But it is not long before Joubert’s wife Suzanne (The Bird) becomes suspicious of his new-found fascination with the servants, and in particular his blossoming friendship with the family’s own maid, lovely Maria (Natalie Verbeke).
Beautifully shot, costumed and acted, this delightful drama is a visual treat from start to feel-good finish.
