The Lady Vanishes was Alfred Hitchcock’s penultimate English film, filmed largely at studios in Islington and Shepherd’s Bush, in fact! It was voted “Best Film of 1938,” and for many the story of the missing train passenger is one his most resonant. With Margaret Lockwood (relatively unknown at the time) and Michael Redgrave (already a renowned stage actor but established as an international screen idol by this), its memorable performances and outstanding script will provide plenty to discuss after the screening.
